Social responsibility

Social responsibility of the organization is an essential part of the culture of the Agency for Finance in Kosovo (AFK). AFK holds social responsibility towards customers, shareholders, employees and the environment. So, in all its business activities, it is guided by the principles of justice and sustainability in the way it treats society and the environment. The AFK aims to contribute to the financial inclusion of the excluded segment of the population from the financial sector in Kosovo. Providing sustainable access to financial and non-financial services for this segment of the population, is a key concern of AFK’s social commitments and is also a vital part of its social responsibility. AFK helps micro-entrepreneurs and small entrepreneurs pave the way for growing their businesses by offering flexible credit products adapted to their needs, also providing educational and business consulting services.

Consumer Protection Principles

As a micro-financial institution certified by Smart Campaign, AFK is committed to adhering to the seven principles of customer protection which are the minimum standards that should be offered to customers, when collaborating with a financial institution. AFK promises to adhere to the basic principles of customer protection, as follows:

Proper product design and distribution;
Prevention of overloaded debts;
Transparency;
Responsible prices;
Fair and respectful attitude towards customers;
Customer data privacy;
Mechanism for resolving complaints.

Ethical work practices

AFK treats its employees fairly and ethically and provides equal opportunities for all employment and staffing activities, for all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender or nationality, marital status, pregnancy or medical condition. Employment decisions regarding compensation, benefits, promotions, transfers, reductions, re-employments and trainings are administered fairly and without any discrimination.

Environmental Protection

As a good corporate citizen, AFK avoids lending to businesses that pose a risk to the environment. Therefore, it has developed a list of excluded activities and lenders, which eliminates industries that may have a negative impact on the environment. In addition, AFK has developed a green loan product that has been designated for the purchase of equipment and machinery for business, agricultural machinery and household appliances that save energy, or for home insulation.

Community contributions

AFK supports education, health and safety, natural resources, art, civic services, social services and humanitarian aid programs that are vital to the health and well-being of the community in which it operates.
